It’s no secret that my driving force behind this business is my desire to be *my version* of the best Momma I can be for you. It all started before you were even a flutter in my belly, this desire to create opportunities for our family by serving other people. I knew from the moment we found out about you that I had to find a way to spend more time with you, a way to create work I knew you’d be proud of. And I’m getting closer to that goal every day.
You’ve changed my perspective, baby girl. I used to view a wedding day from a Bride’s point of view, but now I can’t help but see through a mother’s eyes as well..
When I viewed it from a Bride’s perspective, I thought about the details and care that went into selecting each part of a wedding. The decor, the favors, and the dress all fascinated me.
Now, I see the beauty of a bride promising to love and protect her family as she makes a covenant with her husband. I see the pride and the little twinge of sadness that flashes- just for a second-as a mother watches her baby, who just yesterday was just like you- little, crawling everywhere & exploring everything for the first time- and with tears in her eyes, allows that baby to be taken care of by a new person. Their person. I know it must be hard to trust someone to take care of your baby.
It’s bittersweet watching this every weekend, because it’s a reminder that one day I’ll be that Mother of the Bride, adjusting your veil, calming your nerves and promising you that all the planning was worth it and everything turned out just like we planned.
It makes me so thankful to have this opportunity. It makes me hold on to you closer, and savor every last moment of snuggles we get in between my two jobs and helping Daddy run our house. It makes me stay up a little later, or wake up a little earlier to edit video, knowing that there will be a day that I can stay home with you, thanks to this business. I don’t know when that day will come, but I know that just like you, I’m hard-headed and will reach my goals.
I hope you’ll be proud of me, and you’ll keep the same determination you have now. (I also hope you learn that electrical outlets are off limits, because boy are you determined to explore those right now!)
I love you, forever & always, a bushel and a peck.
Megan Pettus, with MPV, loves sharing all of the pretty things with you.
